metal wolf chaos did the "world leader piloting a robot suit" thing better, but this wasn't bad for its time either! the hitler ghost was a pretty nice trick for a first-time player, too. you can actually change their fireball speed by messing with the CPU cycles in dosbox.

@stache34 I got all six on my computer a couple years ago. I found the download on a freewebs site but I cant remember the name. I think I got to it by searching for Hans Grosse on google images. The website had the blue bricks from the game as a background and then you can download the shareware version or the whole game for free. You need a computer that can extract files though in order to run it. Hope this helps!

This is an alright port, I just can't help but feel like the PC version was still better. As for the person complaining about the SNES version, it was rather shocking considering they put Doom on the SNES. Doom on the SNES was tolerable, the music made it awesome though. How can they get Doom to be decent and totally screw up Wolf 3D? I just don't get it. Hell, even Noah's Arc 3D played better, and that's a travesty of gaming.

There was a few ports that where the enemy always faced you no matter if they was walking away or walking sideways. i forget what ports did this, i know the PC version was not this way. the Jaguar version looked very good but i think it was one of the versions that where the enemy's always faced you. but other then that the Jaguar version was the best looking in the GFX department.

@namelessmichael The name comes from the game series of the same name created by Muse software(Castle Wolfenstein and Return to Castle Wolfenstein) back in the 80's which inspired quite a bit of this game even to the plot of the first episode escape the castle with the plans which was the plot/purpose of Castle Wolfenstein (and no in case anyone reading this never heard of the Muse titles, there not shooters there more of early stealth game like Metal Gear and Splinter Cell)

This video shows me kicking level 10's ass, revealing all the enemies, treasures, and secret rooms. It's a really errie secret level you can get to from the elevator room in level one. Listen to those sounds! I absolutely love the way this game uses lo-fi samples and synthesized sound effects. The music is very good too. But then again, who didn't like Wolfenstein 3D?

The source code was released so you dont need a emulator. You just need half a brain and some real operating system(eg: one that provide a C compiler). Also you dont need to get the data off warez sites, idsoftware sell the original data as download on their site.

download dosbox. read the intro/help in dosbox to figure out how to use it, and then it's simple. dosbox emulates soundblaster sound card which was standard in the dos years and brings the game alive with great graphics and sound. oh, and then press alt + enter :P

i've always been curious as to why they give you like a million treasures and extra lives in this level when they knew that you could only have 9 lives max.

yall know this level, if not from this game then from doom 2 that cool secret area guarded by demons in the doom 2 version doesn't exist in this game, tho and apparently there was a bug in the initial version of this game where the secret exit would just take you to level 2

at the end the extra life counts as the last 5% of the treasure (extra lives counts as treasure for some reason) or else if you have that all, double check all the treasure spots since u need to be in the exact same spot for it to register and pick the treasure up so double check that you haven't missed any

Wolfenstein 3D for the Jaguar is definitely one of the best (if not THE best) versions of this game. The graphics were updated on the Jag, which you can clearly see. The framerate is spectacular as well. It's very quick moving. It's the same Wolf 3D you remember from your old PC, but still worlds of fun on the Jaguar.

The only downfall of this version (a few versions for other platforms as well) was that the people was always facing you. the PC version of the game the people could be seen from the rear and the sides. but yeah the GFX in this version was the best by far. the only thing that sort of killed it was the above fact.

The PC version was best as far as gameplay goes. Sure, the mac/jag versions have updated sprites, but the thing is, they aren't 3D, so the enemies always face you, and also due to so, will have unfair shots around a cornor due to the sprite always haveing to face your direction.

it's still very much in dev, and i'm only making the shareware episode so i dont get in trouble. unfortunately with palm's mojo sdk in it's current state, i can't do anything as advanced as doom yet, not until we get full opengl access. The next step after this is to add some more little features, then make a complete original game using the engine. I'm not sure when this will be finished, but keep an eye out for future videos of mine to see the progress!

I love all the sound effects in these old games - so memorable. So many years later I still vividly remember the guys that would yell "HALT! STOP!" Plus the sound when you pick up the treasure and ammo. Really a classic!

I cant wait until the xbox 360 version comes out next year. Its more realistic and is totally different but the concept still remains. Hoever; nothing could ever beat this one, classic Wolfenstein 3D

Here's Episode 1 of the SNES port of Wolfenstein 3D. Though it was censored, and the graphics blocky, it's the best controlling of all console ports.

@nooblet911 the swearing was taken out by the guys porting it on their own, the nudity was taken out by ESRB becasue they are harsher on console games than PC games. they said that if it kept the nudity it would be an AO title and nintedo refused to liscense AO titles so it never would have been made.

they wanted doom for the snes to have no satanic symbols, but it had them anyway. and duke nukem 64 had no nudity or swearing (dunno if nintendo ordered that).

It's not weird at all. Nintendo hasn't forced developers to censor games since Mortal Kombat II, and the ESRB ratings system came out. Wolf3D for the SNES was before that happened. All censored games since has been the decision of the developer to lower the rating to sell to a larger audience.
