I am also aware that swords MADE in japan by swordmasters are expensive and yes the old swords will cost a tremendous amount because they are national treasures but new swords produced now are cheaper because they're made recently and the materials are not as hard to find as they used to be. I am not referring to mass produced swords either. The cheapest you can find one for is $2,000.

If you check history this is fairly close to how it happened. Kojiro's advantage in fighting was that his sword was slightly longer than the average sword. One of the reasons the sword is positioned back is so the opponant will misjudge its length and therefore distance. When Musashi carved the boat oar down, he made it slightly longer than Kojiro's sword giving himself Kojiro's advantage. This was a common thing for Musashi to do...take the opponants advantage and use it against them.

@steels90 its really hard to compare this show to Bleach or Naruto. Bleach, Naruto, and Afro Samurai are all good shows, however Afro Samurai is a blend of traditional Japanese culture with a hip-hop beat, while Bleach and Naruto focus more on the fictional aspects of Japanese culture(Ninjas, Shinigami, Etc.) I think all three are good shows though.
