What purpose does it serve? if you travel for work or pleasure, and you come across a building, statue, piece of art, etc. you can take a picture of it, and find out what it is and very likely will be linked to the wiki to learn about the history, artist, etc. Furthermore, it is pretty great for logo/brand recognition. If you have a product in front of you, and don't know who makes it, take a picture and learn more about it! another shortcut to JFGI !

You have to put on CLosed Captioning - it's hilarious. Googles own Closed Captioning translates the opening sentence as "Muhammed of the Sciences that who doing results administrators" and the restaurant menu as "space and that was what a was of what she may strip". WTF!?!

This looks awesome! Google Goggles is a cool name for a visual translator! When there are actual goggles involved I hope they'll do more than just translate! I'd expect a full HUD with features like zoom, night vision, infra-red and maybe X-Ray? I can't wait for when speech recognition and translation will lead to the Google Babble! (The logical choice of name rally after this and the whole Babel fish paradigm!)

@genestarwindjf80 Don't count on this phone coming to att. It's starting with t mobile in germany and the uk. Att isn't smart enough to hop on this. But if T Mobile doesn't ship it to the U.S. just get the unlocked. It's definitely worth the 6-7 hundred or so it'll cost. This is one of those gotta have it at any cost deals.
